Top 10 Most Popular Torrent Sites of 2014

 

Continuing a long-standing New Year’s tradition, today we present an up-to-date list of the world’s most-visited BitTorrent sites. At the start of 2014 The Pirate Bay continues to pull in the most visitors, followed by KickassTorrents and Torrentz. Household name isoHunt.com disappears after settling with the MPAA, but its replacement isoHunt.to is one of this year's newcomers.

With 2013 now behind us, which torrent sites are pulling in the most visitors at the start of 2014?

Traditionally, BitTorrent users are very loyal, which is reflected in the top 10 where most sites have had a consistent listing for more than half a decade. But in common with every year, 2014 sees a few movers and shakers, as well as several newcomers.
The top three slots remain intact compared to last year, with The Pirate Bay in the lead despite several domain name changes.
The most notable absentee this year is isoHunt. The site has been featured in the top 10 since 2006, but went offline in 2013 after it settled its legal dispute with the MPAA for $110 million.
Last year’s newcomer H33t also fell out of the top 10 after it lost its domain name. The site relaunched after two months downtime at H33t.to but has lost most of its traffic.
The first newcomer in the top 10 this year is YIFY-Torrents, which is also one of the youngest torrent sites after being founded in 2011. The site has grown tremendously over recent months, and by focusing on popular movie releases YIFY has evolved into Hollywood’s new nemesis.
Isohunt clone/replacement isoHunt.to is the second newcomer, which is quite an achievement since the site only launched two months ago. RARBG is the last ‘new’ name, the site has been around for many years but is listed in the top 10 for the first time.

The list is based on various traffic reports and we display the Alexa and U.S. Compete rank for each. In addition, we include last year’s ranking for each of the 10 sites.

Just a few months after Android L 5.0 Lollipop was rolled out, a 5.1 version is planned to be launched in February, ahead of its reported summer release.

version will first be released on Nexus devices before it is made available for other major devices.

But Android 5.0 Lollilop did not come without its flaws. Aside from only a handful of users choosing to go for the upgrade, inability to connect to Wi-Fi became a major issue. A couple of users also experienced a huge loss of memory in their devices when they tried to install the software update.
In November of last year, Lollipop was supposed to come out earlier but Google withheld the update due to a bug that was causing issues on the devices' batteries.

With only less than 0.1% of users upgraded to Lollipop, the latest Android version paled in comparison to the Android 4.4 KitKat which had 1.1% users on its first month.
Right now, KitKat remains to be the most downloaded software for Android devices with 39.1% of Android users to date. It is followed by Jelly Bean versions 4.1.x with 19.2%, 4.2.x with 20.3%, and 4.3 with 6.5%. It is trailed behind by Ice Cream Sandwich, 4.03-04, with 7.8%, and antique Froyo, 2.2, with 0.4%.
When Lollipop was first released to Nexus devices, a couple of users warned against upgrading to the system because of technical mishaps, which included repeated crashes and device slowdown. Some users complained that the audio in the devices had also failed to work.

In a separate article published on ZD Net, some users commented that the Lollipop update was "unusable" after their tablets became "laggy" and would randomly restart. Other users, in fact, said that they regretted the over-the-air download.
The new features offered by Android Lollipop are indeed promising, as could be on the website of Android. For one thing, the update includes a longer battery life, with an extension of up to 90 minutes.
